The weather is warming, the creeks are thawing, and a summer of adventures await. Fly fishing is an interesting sport as it is traditional in its associations and generally perceived as a smug old guy decked out in canvas garments and sharing a peaceful moment with nature. However, times are changing and more and more you will find a number of asshole youth (myself included) approaching the sport in a new way. Ski culture, Bike culture, and Rock Climbing culture have traditionally been ruled by technology pushing the sport forward. The same notion has began to pop up within fly fishing, and with it comes the Gortex mentality. Fishing magazines now feature high resolution photographs with extreme filters and post editing work that is reminiscent of most skateboard magazines. This is due to its organic need to adapt and adopt the new wave of participants. Youth.
